TXGB and Bidnstay.com bring auction concept to the UK tourism sector

Tuesday October 17, 2023

Tourism Exchange Great Britain (TXGB) has partnered with tech start-up Bidnstay.com on a mission to fill empty rooms and increase the spread of tourism across the UK.

Hotels, B&Bs, campsites and holiday lets connected to the TXGB platform can now easily opt-in to the Bidnstay.com online auction website to sell unfilled accommodation at a set, silent reserve rate.

On average, rooms remain unoccupied 22 percent of the time, due to cancellations or vacancies, leaving accommodation providers with a loss in potential revenue and challenges managing resources.

Bidnstay.com is on a mission to change this and through this exciting new connection, TXGB suppliers will be able to reach consumers who are increasingly searching for last minute stays, at the best rate.

Bidnstay.com’s pioneering auction technology provides mutually beneficial transactions for hosts and guests.

The host can control the percentage by which they are willing to reduce the price for available rooms within the next 30 days.

Travellers then browse the listings and place their bid for their desired accommodation, attempting to beat the reserve price that is only visible to the host.

Empowering guests and hosts

Led by founder and CEO, Emma Johnson, the team at Bidnstay.com will embark on a large-scale marketing and growth strategy to onboard an additional 5,000 accommodation providers in the next 12 months.

By keeping the fees low and enabling hosts to manage their own listings directly, Bidnstay aims to become the go-to platform for last-minute bookings.

Emma Johnson said:

‘We chose to build a connection to TXGB to tap into their vast, diverse and growing network of accommodation providers to drive adoption of our cutting-edge technology which is designed to drive increased occupancy levels and revenue.

‘As the ex-manager of a multi-unit accommodation site in Suffolk, I know the last thing any host wants to see is an empty room or property. With the rapid transformation of the travel industry, I saw an opportunity to combine the thrill of an auction with the convenience of online booking.

‘Our platform is a unique fusion of Airbnb and Ebay that empowers guests and hosts in the ever-evolving travel landscape. And we have plenty of new features in the pipeline which will enhance the user experience from the initial booking right through to their stay.’

New ways to create value

Bidnstay.com connected with TXGB as a platform that bridges the gap to many booking systems in use across the UK accommodation sector, helping put this exciting opportunity into the hands of more users at speed.

This new connection enables existing TXGB customers to quickly and easily plug into a novel kind of channel – one that uses the proposition of an auction to attract a different type of guest and fill a different gap in their booking diary.

James Berzins, Managing Director of TXGB, added:

‘We are always looking for visionaries like Emma who can see untapped potential in the sector and are eager to unlock it by finding new ways to create value.

‘It is partnerships like this that help our users try new solutions to old problems, finding a blend of distribution channels that make their business more productive and achieve better results.

‘Emma shares our passion for building digital platforms that deliver the optimum user-experience – something that will remain at the heart of our strategy as we move forwards together.

‘We are delighted to be able to bring this innovative sales channel to the accommodation sector – all accessible via the TXGB dashboard.’

TXGB suppliers will be able manage and update availability instantly through their existing TXGB dashboard.
