Visit Wales is all aboard

Monday December 19, 2022

Visit Wales has joined fellow UK government agencies as a partner with the TXGB platform.

This connection will leverage the power of connectivity to unlock the nation’s tourism assets like never before.

Regional contractors are in place for North, Mid, South East and South West regions to ensure that all types of tourism businesses – across the whole of Wales – are aware of the next-level connectivity TXGB delivers.

This will provide businesses with the opportunity to start the 2023 booking season on the front foot, achieving better online visibility, taking more direct bookings and opting into a greater mix of ever more niche distribution channels.

Headline attraction, Zip World, has already boosted its sales and marketing activities with TXGB through the National Lottery Days Out campaign earlier this year.

Alongside newer, more experiential industry entrants, these businesses are already exploring how they can further grow sales and have a positive impact on overall visitation and visitor value in their destinations through TXGB’s unique platform.

New discoveries

Holidaymakers continue to seek out different kinds of tourism products on their travels.

And connecting tourism suppliers with the B2B digital platform opens up opportunities in lesser discovered parts of Wales, particularly for visitors less familiar with everything the country has to offer as a destination.

Beyond the scenery, heritage and outdoor pursuits this nation is perhaps most famous for, TXGB’s unprecedented reach will help put a spotlight on other ways travellers can spend their leisure time exploring the ‘Wonders of Wales’.

This will help boost out-of-season activity and encouraging extended visitor stays.

Visit Wales tourism barometer

The latest Visit Wales Tourism Barometer (published October 2022) shows an appetite for a longer booking window with 62% of tourism businesses staying open for more time during the autumn and winter months.

It also suggests a growing number of people would be more inclined to investigate a short break in Wales outside of the traditional spring-summer escape.

The Barometer also shows that half of Welsh proprietors say they lack confidence in running their tourism businesses profitably.

That’s why we’re working hard to harness TXGB’s connectivity to bring the industry together in a different way.

As part of the Visit Wales roll-out we’re exploring a first-of-its kind community space and we can’t wait to share more in the coming months.
